“I am always delighted to go to Brookland Retreat Center and cannot wait to take others to experience the fresh air and beauty of the area. It is truly a life-giving place and I always leave feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.”
Br. David Rutledge, Community of Francis and Clare, Mount Joy, PA
"I've had the opportunity to spend time at the Brookland Retreat Center with a small group of college students. It was an opportunity to carve out space in nature for them to get away from campus, experience the beauty of this place, and find time for quiet and rest. They also had two beautifully clear nights to explore the stars and Milky Way above us. The Brookland Retreat Center was a perfect space for this. It had everything we needed to live simply and enjoy God's creation for our retreat weekend."
Joe Pritchett, Director for Faith and Meaning at Franklin and Marshall College
The All Saints Retreat House at Brookland Retreat Center is ideal for small/mid-sized groups that are looking for a simple place to have meetings and group activities. It has a large dining room/meeting area, well-appointed kitchen, sitting room, two full baths and two half baths, two large, shared bedrooms (with four twin beds each), one small bedroom with two XL twin beds. Total sleeping capacity for 10 people inside, space outside for tents for additional sleeping capacity, a large porch for sitting with that morning cup of coffee or tea. Bring your own sleeping bag (to throw on the bed) or bed linens (pillows are supplied—bring pillowcases), and towels. Supply your own food and use the beautiful kitchen to try out your recipes. Everything else is there! Wi-Fi is available.
First Floor
The Great Room has tables and chairs to accommodate around 20 persons, comfy reading spaces, a well-stocked library, and many card and board games. The first floor has two half-baths, a sitting room with couch and chairs, and a large front porch. The kitchen is well-equipped with two refrigerator/freezers, two stove tops (with four burners each), three ovens, four sinks, microwave, slow cookers, coffee pots, hot water kettles, dishes, utensils, cups, plates, bowls, pots, pans, and selected condiments and spices.
Second Floor
Overnight lodging is provided on the second floor with two large bedrooms, each with four twin beds, and one small bedroom with two XL twin beds, as well as two full bathrooms with sinks, private toilets and showers. (Note: The second floor is not handicap accessible.)
Outside
The property has ample space for walking, hiking, camping, campfires, games, and of course stargazing on clear nights! Take a walk around the property near the old sheep wall and look for native wildlife. (Lots of wild turkeys and deer inhabit the area.)
Dedicated in 1889, All Saints Chapel is the jewel of Brookland Retreat Center. It has seating for up to around 50 persons where you are surrounded by the beautiful light from stained glass windows made in England, Beechnut wood furnishings, and tile flooring imported from Italy. The white marble altar and baptismal font and Estey Reed Organ harken back to another era and a private prayer corner provides a quiet and reflective space for contemplative prayer. It is a truly holy place for individual and groups to gather and worship.
